WI River Information
Visit our River Information page for details on distances. The Wisconsin River is a wide, lazy, beautiful river. From Sauk City, it flows freely 92 miles southwest, and empties into the Mississippi River at Wyalusing State Park in southwestern Wisconsin.
The last dam on the river is located two miles upstream from WI River
The bottom of the river is mostly sand, with a few rock bars in the beginning of your trip. It features numerous sand bars, and islands that beckon you to stop and take a stroll, exploration adventure, or have a picnic. There are no rapids on this stretch of the river, which makes it an excellent river for a beginner paddler.
Like any river, the Wisconsin does have its obstacles. Downed trees, rocks, and steep drop-offs at the ends of sand bars, are some of the challenges
River conditions can change dramatically, so it is always recommended that you call ahead for current conditions.
